Letters to the school

  1. Insistência por falta de resposta ao requerimentoFollow-up when the school has not answered within the legal deadlineA calm follow-up when the school has not answered your request within the deadlines of article 11 of DL 70/2021 (15 working days for a decision on ensino doméstico; 10 working days for the school's opinion on ensino individual). Asks for the state of the request, the interview date and the decision, and offers to supply any missing document.
  2. Nota de acompanhamento da inscrição em provas de equivalência à frequênciaCover note for registration for provas de equivalência à frequênciaA short note to send with the school's official registration form (or the online registration receipt) for the PEF and, in 9.º ano, the provas finais. It confirms the subjects, asks for the dates and the Informação-Prova, and records any request for adaptations. The form itself is the school's; this note does not replace it. Based on articles 15 and 19 of DL 70/2021 and Despacho Normativo 3/2026.
  3. Pedido de diagnóstico e integração em Português Língua Não Materna (PLNM)Request for PLNM (Portuguese as a non-native language) assessment and placementFor children whose first language is not Portuguese. Asks the school of enrolment to assess the child's Portuguese level and to place the child in PLNM, so that the PLNM versions of ModA, PEF, provas finais or the secondary exam can be used. Based on article 12(2)(e) of DL 70/2021 and Despacho Normativo 3/2026.
  4. Renovação da matrícula e do protocolo para o ano letivo seguinteRenewal of enrolment and protocolo for the next school yearTells the school that the family continues in ensino doméstico or ensino individual next year and asks to renew the protocolo de colaboração or sign a new one. Renewal depends on having complied with the protocolo (article 10 of DL 70/2021). Schools handle renewal differently, and a new request is usually needed at a change of cycle, so check with your school.
  5. Resposta a um pedido de planificação excessivamente detalhadaReply when the school asks for an excessively detailed planA polite, cooperative reply when the school asks for a weekly or term-by-term plan of every subject. It explains what DL 70/2021 asks for (an explanation of how the curriculum will be managed, article 12(2)(c)), recalls that the protocolo is negotiated, and proposes a clear per-subject format. Use it to open a conversation, not to refuse.
  6. Requerimento de matrícula em ensino domésticoRequest for enrolment in ensino doméstico (home education)The first letter to the school director asking to enrol your child in ensino doméstico. It identifies the guardian, the child and the responsável educativo, states the grounds, lists the degree certificate as an attachment and asks for the interview and the draft protocolo de colaboração. Based on articles 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12 and 16 of DL 70/2021.
  7. Requerimento de matrícula em ensino individualRequest for enrolment in ensino individual (individual tuition)The first letter to the school director asking to enrol your child in ensino individual, taught by a qualified teacher. It identifies the guardian, the child and the teacher, states the grounds, attaches the teacher's qualification and criminal record certificate, and asks for the interview and the draft protocolo. The school gives an opinion and a central body decides. Based on articles 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12 and 16 of DL 70/2021.
  8. Cessação do ensino doméstico e pedido de matrícula em ensino presencialEnding ensino doméstico and requesting enrolment in schoolTells the school that the family ends ensino doméstico (or ensino individual) and asks to enrol the child in regular in-person classes. Asks for the protocolo to end, for the processo individual to follow the child, and for practical information. The return follows the normal enrolment rules (article 20(2) of DL 70/2021).
