The guides, calendar, eligibility checker, templates and tools on this site give general information about ensino doméstico and ensino individual in Portugal. They are not legal advice, and they do not replace advice from a lawyer who knows your situation.

Every situation is different. If you are in a dispute with a school or an authority, or if a decision about your child's education depends on how the law applies to your case, please get professional advice.

Not an official source

We are an independent project. We are not part of, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by, the Ministry of Education, EduQA, the DGE, the DGEEC, the Júri Nacional de Exames, any agrupamento, any school or any online school.

The official texts are the ones published in the Diário da República and by the competent public bodies. Where our summary and an official text differ, the official text prevails.

Sourced and dated, but schools and authorities decide

We cite the official source for every legal or procedural claim, show when each guide was last reviewed, and review every guide at least every six months. You can read how we work in our editorial policy.

Even so:

  • laws, regulations, calendars and exam rules change, sometimes at short notice;
  • schools apply the same rules in different ways, and some questions are not answered by the law;
  • the decision on each request, protocolo, portfolio and exam belongs to the school and the competent authorities, not to us.

Before you rely on a date, a deadline or a requirement, check the official source linked from the guide and confirm with your school. We do not guarantee any outcome.
